11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-8

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash when used with the Roland TD-8.

Setup — 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-8

Works

Yes — the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-8: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-08 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], then [F1 (TRIG)] — the "TRIGGER BANK" screen appears.
  2. Navigate to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input.
  3. Set the trigger type to PD7 or PD9 — the TD-8's trigger-type list has no dedicated cymbal values; these dual-trigger settings read bow (head) and edge (rim) with choke support on the CRASH inputs.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
