Yes — the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland TD-12: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → Input 9 RIDE + Input 10 EDGE on the rear panel

Full 3-zone ride using the TD-12's 3-Way Triggering — Input 9 RIDE carries bow + bell, Input 10 EDGE carries the edge. The manual documents this exact setup for the CY-15R / CY-12R/C. 3Way Trigger must be set to ON.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to Input 9 RIDE (BOW/BELL) on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to Input 10 EDGE on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [TRIGGER], then [F1 (BANK)].
  2. Strike the ride to select the RIDE input (the cursor moves to the struck pad).
  3. Use [+/-] or [VALUE] to set the "Trigger Type" to CY15R or CY12RC.
  4. Press [F5 (ADVANCE)], then [F3 (3-WAY)], and set "3Way Trigger (Ride & Edge)" to ON - this routes the bell to Input 9's ring and the edge to Input 10 (shown as RD CTRL).
  5. Press [F2 (BASIC)] to fine-tune "Sensitivity" (1-32) and "Threshold" (0-31).

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bow, bell, edge).
  2. Input 10 EDGE reads only the edge zone — its head-side tone is ignored, so the bow signal on the Ride 1 output is harmless there.
  3. If 3Way Trigger is OFF, the bell zone will not be detected separately.
  4. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
