15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Prime

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Alesis Strata Prime.

Setup — 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Prime

Works

Yes — the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 2-zone crash on the Alesis Strata Prime: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CYMBAL 1–CYMBAL 4 trigger input (1/4" TRS jack)

The four Cymbal trigger slots read Bow, Edge, and Bell, so a 2-zone crash lands its Bow and Edge zones with edge choke supported. Each Cymbal input is an individual 1/4" TRS jack.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal to a CYMBAL 1, CYMBAL 2, CYMBAL 3, or CYMBAL 4 trigger input on the rear panel (User Guide p.7).

Module settings

  1. Press the Kit button and tap Trigger to open Trigger mode; tap Hit Select and strike the cymbal to select its C1-C4 (Cymbal) input.
  2. Load a matching Trigger Preset so Bow and Edge respond, or in Tweaks set Bow Sensitivity (1.0-32.0) and Edge Sensitivity (1.0-32.0).
  3. In Tweaks, set Threshold (1-127) to taste.
  4. In Advanced, set Choke Time (1-200 ms) for how long you must grab the edge to mute.
  5. If Bow/Edge feel swapped, toggle Invert Bell & Edge (Off/On) on that input (Advanced); if a hard crash leaves late false triggers, raise Edge Decay Boost (0-100).

Tips

  1. Bow plays from the surface; Edge plays the second zone and supports choke when you grab it.
  2. If Bow and Edge feel swapped, toggle Invert Bell & Edge on that input.
  3. If a hard crash leaves late false triggers as the cymbal swings, raise Edge Decay Boost.
  4. If a nearby pad triggers this cymbal, run Learn XTalk on the pad that is causing the crosstalk.
15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
