15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland V31

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland V31.

Setup — 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland V31

Works

Yes — the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland V31: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → RD + RDB connectors on the dedicated connection cable

Full 3-zone ride — the manual instructs connecting a ride that supports three-way triggering to the RD and RDB connectors of the dedicated connection cable.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the RD (ride) connector on the connection cable.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to the RDB (ride bell) connector on the connection cable.

Module settings

  1. Press the [MENU] button.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "SYSTEM" -> "TRIGGER", then press [ENTER].
  3. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER - BANK screen.
  4. Select the RIDE input (strike the pad or use the cursor buttons).
  5. Use the dial to set the trigger type to CY-14R-T (the manual's three-way ride example).
  6. Both the RD and RDB cables must be connected for bow, bell, and edge.

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bell, bow, edge).
  2. If only one cable is connected, the ride will function as 2-zone only.
  3. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
