15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland V71

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland V71.

Setup — 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland V71

Works

Yes — the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland V71: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → the RIDE + BELL jack pair (trigger input 10) on the rear panel

Full 3-zone ride using the RIDE and BELL jacks of trigger input 10. Same physical layout as TD-50.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the RIDE jack (trigger input 10) on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to the BELL jack beside it (the "10 RIDE - BELL" pair).

Module settings

  1. Press the [TRIGGER] button.
  2. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER - BANK screen.
  3. Select the RIDE input (strike the pad or use the cursor buttons).
  4. Use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to set the trigger type to the model that most closely matches your connected pad (the full trigger-type list is in the module's Data List).
  5. The bell zone is read automatically through the second cable in the 10 RIDE - BELL jack pair - no extra toggle is needed.

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bell, bow, edge).
  2. If only one cable is connected, the ride will function as 2-zone only.
  3. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
