15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-10

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland TD-10.

Setup — 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-10

Use as 2-zone ride

Yes — the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works on the Roland TD-10 as a 2-zone ride: bow + edge.

Choose your ride zones

Plug: Ride 1

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 1 (bow/edge) → RIDE input on the rear panel

Plug the Lemon ride's Ride 1 cable into the RIDE input for bow + edge — no cymbal modification. The RIDE input's second zone is freely assignable, so give it a ride-edge or crash instrument.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the ride's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the RIDE input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], then press [F1 (TRIG)], and then press [F1 (BANK)], and navigate to the RIDE input.
  2. Set the RIDE input's trigger type. The TD-10's list is pad models only (PD5, PD7, PD9, 10A/10B, 12A/12B, P 1, P 2, KD7, K 1, K 2, KIK, SNR, TOM, FLR) — there is no cymbal entry, so pick the pad type that gives the steadiest response.
  3. Assign the sounds per zone: press [INST], strike the zone, then use [INC/DEC] or the VALUE dial to pick the instrument — a ride-bow instrument on the bow, a ride-edge or crash instrument on the second zone. ([TRIG SELECT] picks a trigger without striking it.)
  4. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, and Crosstalk so bow and edge strikes register consistently.

Tips

  1. This is the out-of-the-box setup — no cymbal modification.

Or set it up as Bow + bell

Plug: Ride 2

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 2 (bow/bell, after the rewire) → RIDE input on the rear panel

After a one-time, reversible jumper move inside the cymbal (~10 min) the Ride 2 cable carries bow + bell into the single RIDE channel.

Cable routing

  1. Rewire the cymbal — move the internal red/black jumper from the Ride 1 input to the Ride 2 input.
  2. Connect a single 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output to this module's RIDE input.

  2. Set the RIDE input's trigger type as above.
  3. Assign the sounds per zone: press [INST], strike the zone, then use [INC/DEC] or the VALUE dial to pick the instrument — a ride-bow instrument on the bow, a ride-bell instrument on the second zone. ([TRIG SELECT] picks a trigger without striking it.)
  4. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, and Crosstalk so bow and bell strikes register consistently.
15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
