11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland V31

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash when used with the Roland V31.

Setup — 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland V31

Works

Yes — the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland V31: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 connector on the DB-25 cable snake, or CRASH2 / AUX/TOM4 direct jack on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The V-31 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. For additional cymbals, connect to the CRASH2 or AUX/TOM4 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [MENU] button.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "SYSTEM" -> "TRIGGER", then press [ENTER].
  3. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER - BANK screen.
  4. Select the CRASH1, CRASH2, or AUX/TOM4 input (strike the pad or use the cursor buttons).
  5. Use the dial to set the trigger type to the model that most closely matches your connected pad (the full trigger-type list is in the module's Data List).
  6. For finer control, press [F3] (BASIC) and adjust the pad's Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
  3. The DIGITAL TRIGGER IN (USB) jack is for Roland digital pads only.
11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
