20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-17

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland TD-17.

Setup — 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland TD-17

Works

Yes — the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland TD-17: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: The “RD” + “RDB” leads on the dedicated connection cable → Ride 1 + Ride 2

Full 3-zone ride on the “RD” and “RDB” leads of the dedicated connection cable. The TD-17KVX Setup Guide wires the stock CY-13R the same way — RD plug to its BOW/EDGE OUTPUT jack, RDB plug to its BELL OUTPUT jack — which is exactly the Lemon ride's two-output layout.

Cable routing

  1. Plug the lead labeled “RD” into the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge).
  2. Plug the lead labeled “RDB” into the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bell).

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], turn the dial to select "Pad Settings", then press [ENTER].
  2. Press [F1] (TYPE), then strike the ride to select the RIDE input.
  3. Turn the dial to set Pad Type to CY13R or CY15R.
  4. Press [F2] (BASIC), select "Sensitivity", and turn the dial to adjust it.

Tips

  1. Both leads are required for full 3-zone operation (bell, bow, edge).
  2. If only one lead is connected, the ride will function as 2-zone only.
  3. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, follow the bell and edge section of the ride setup guide.
20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 76 other drum modules — see setup
