Yes — the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Roland TD-20: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → Input 10 RIDE + Input 11 EDGE on the rear panel

Full 3-zone ride using the TD-20's 3-Way Trigger feature — Input 10 RIDE carries bow + bell, Input 11 EDGE carries the edge. The manual documents this exact setup for the CY-15R / CY-12R/C. 3Way Trigger must be set to ON.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to Input 10 RIDE (BOW/BELL) on the rear panel.
  2. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to Input 11 EDGE on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [TRIGGER], then [F1 (BANK)] to open the TRIGGER BANK screen.
  2. Strike the ride to select the RIDE input.
  3. Use [+/-] or the [VALUE] dial to set Trig Type to CY15R or CY12R/C.
  4. Press [F5 (ADVANCE)], then [F3 (3-WAY)], and set 3Way Trigger to ON -- this routes Bow Shot to Input 10 RIDE head, Bell Shot to Input 10 RIDE rim, and Edge Shot to Input 11 EDGE rim.
  5. Press [F2 (BASIC)] and set Sensitivity and Threshold for the ride.

Tips

  1. Both cables are required for full 3-zone operation (bow, bell, edge).
  2. Input 11 EDGE reads only the edge zone — its head-side tone is ignored, so the bow signal on the Ride 1 output is harmless there.
  3. If 3Way Trigger is OFF, the ring on Input 10 reads as edge instead of bell.
  4. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
