20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Donner DED-500P

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Donner DED-500P.

Setup — 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Donner DED-500P

Use as 2-zone ride

Yes — the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works on the Donner DED-500P as a 2-zone ride: bow + edge.

Choose your ride zones

Plug: Ride 1

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 1 (bow/edge) → RIDE lead on the DB25 harness

Plug the Lemon ride's Ride 1 cable into the Ride input for bow + edge — no cymbal modification. The DED-500P has a single Ride input, so two of the Lemon ride's zones reach the module.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a single 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the RIDE lead on the module's DB25 signal-connection harness (the harness plugs into the module's "Data In" port).

Module settings

  1. Upon the setting interface, select TRIG and press [ENTER] to enter the trigger interface, then use the [◀]/[▶] buttons to select the Ride pad.
  2. Adjust Sensibility, Threshold, Curve, and Rim Gain (rim/edge sensitivity) so bow and edge hits register cleanly; raise AntiCross if a neighboring pad falsely triggers.
  3. Upon the main interface, select [INST] and press [ENTER] to enter the instrument interface, then assign a ride-bow instrument to the bow zone and a ride-edge or crash instrument to the second zone (SAVE stores one pad's tone at a time).

Tips

  1. This is the out-of-the-box setup — no cymbal modification.

Or set it up as Bow + bell

Plug: Ride 2

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 2 (bow/bell, after the rewire) → RIDE lead on the DB25 harness

After the one-time cymbal rewire the Ride 2 cable carries bow + bell into the single Ride input. The DED-500P's sound list includes ride-bell voices to assign to the second zone.

Cable routing

  1. Rewire the cymbal — move the internal red/black jumper from the Ride 1 input to the Ride 2 input.
  2. Connect a single 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output to the RIDE lead on this module's DB25 signal-connection harness.

Module settings

  1. Upon the setting interface, select TRIG and press [ENTER] to enter the trigger interface, then use the [◀]/[▶] buttons to select the Ride pad.
  2. Adjust Sensibility, Threshold, Curve, and Rim Gain so bow and bell hits register cleanly — Rim Gain tunes whatever signal arrives on the ring conductor, which is the bell piezo after the rewire.
  3. Upon the main interface, select [INST] and press [ENTER] to enter the instrument interface, then assign a ride-bow instrument to the bow zone and a ride-bell voice from the sound list to the second zone (SAVE stores one pad's tone at a time).
20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
