T950 10"x5" High Tom on Roland TD-4

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 10"x5" High Tom when used with the Roland TD-4.

Setup — T950 10"x5" High Tom on Roland TD-4

Use as 1-zone tom

Yes — the T950 10"x5" High Tom works on the Roland TD-4 as a 1-zone tom: head only.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → T1, T2, T3 connectors on the trigger input cable

The Roland TD-4 tom inputs are single-zone — only the head piezo is read. Rim hits on a dual-zone tom pad will not produce a separate sound.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the T1, T2, or T3 connector on the trigger input cable.

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU], choose "8 PAD SETTINGS" with the SEL buttons, and press [OK].
  2. Strike a tom to select its T1, T2, or T3 input (or pick it with the [-/+] dial at the MENU screen).
  3. Use the SEL buttons to select "Pad Type", then set it with the [-/+] dial to PD-8, PD-85, or PD-105 to match your tom.
  4. If needed, fine-tune "Sensitivity" (1-32) in PAD SETTINGS, and "Threshold" under Advanced Edit.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T950 10"x5" High Tom also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
