T550 10" Low Tom on Roland TD-4

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Roland TD-4.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Roland TD-4

Use as 1-zone tom

The T550 10" Low Tom works on your Roland TD-4 with reduced zones.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → T1, T2, T3 connectors on the trigger input cable

The Roland TD-4 tom inputs are single-zone — only the head piezo is read. Rim hits on a dual-zone tom pad will not produce a separate sound.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the T1, T2, or T3 connector on the trigger input cable.

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU] > 8 PAD SETTINGS and press [OK].
  2. Strike a tom or use SEL to navigate to the T1, T2, or T3 input.
  3. Set the Pad Type to PD-8, PD-85, or PD-105 depending on your pad size.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
