T550 10" Low Tom on Roland TD-4

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Roland TD-4.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Roland TD-4

Use as 1-zone tom

Yes — the T550 10" Low Tom works on the Roland TD-4 as a 1-zone tom: head only.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → T1, T2, T3 connectors on the DB-25 trigger cable

The Roland TD-4 tom inputs are single-zone — only the head signal is read. Rim hits on a dual-zone tom pad will not produce a separate sound.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the T1, T2, or T3 connector on the DB-25 trigger cable.

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU], choose "8 PAD SETTINGS" with the SEL buttons, and press [OK].
  2. Strike a tom to select its T1, T2, or T3 input (or pick it with the [-/+] dial at the MENU screen).
  3. Use the SEL buttons to select "Pad Type", then set it with the [-/+] dial to PD-8, PD-85, or PD-105 to match your tom.
  4. If needed, fine-tune "Sensitivity" (1-32) in PAD SETTINGS, and "Threshold" under Advanced Edit.

Tips

  1. Only the head (center piezo) triggers — this module doesn't read the pad's rim piezo.
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
