T950 10"x5" High Tom on Roland V31

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 10"x5" High Tom when used with the Roland V31.

Setup — T950 10"x5" High Tom on Roland V31

Works

Yes — the T950 10"x5" High Tom works as a full tom on the Roland V31: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → TOM1, TOM2, TOM3 connectors on the DB-25 cable snake

Dual-zone tom triggering: head (tip) and rim (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection per tom input.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. A fourth tom goes on the rear-panel TRIGGER IN (AUX/TOM 4) jack (p. 19–20). That single jack is shared: set Trigger Input AUX/TOM4 Select to “TOM4” to play a tom there — “You can’t use AUX and TOM4 at the same time” (p. 159).

Module settings

  1. Press the [MENU] button.
  2. Use the cursor buttons to select "SYSTEM" -> "TRIGGER", then press [ENTER].
  3. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER - BANK screen.
  4. Select the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 input (strike the pad or use the cursor buttons).
  5. Use the dial to set the trigger type to the model that most closely matches your connected pad (the full trigger-type list is in the module's Data List).
  6. For finer control, press [F3] (BASIC) and adjust the pad's Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T950 10"x5" High Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
