13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Audiofront eDRUMin

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Audiofront eDRUMin.

Setup — 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Audiofront eDRUMin

Works

Yes — the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 3-zone ride on the Audiofront eDRUMin: bow + bell + edge.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → two adjacent eDRUMin inputs (1/4" TRS jacks)

Set one input to Roland 3-Zone Ride (bow/edge) and the adjacent input auto-becomes bell. Also supports Bell Sense for single-input 3-zone on compatible pads.

Cable routing

  1. Connect the cymbal's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to one eDRUMin input.
  2. Connect the cymbal's Ride 2 output (bow/bell) to the adjacent input — on the ED8/ED10 bow/edge goes to the top input and the bell to the bottom one; on the ED4, bow/edge left, bell right.
  3. Two separate 1/4" TRS cables are required for full 3-zone operation.
  4. Alternatively, single-cable 3-zone is possible via Bell Sense on compatible pads.

Module settings

  1. Open the eDRUMin Control Application > select the input > Trigger Editor.
  2. Set the Pad Type of the bow/edge input to 'Roland 3-Zone Ride' — the adjacent input automatically becomes the Bell input.
  3. Adjust Gain, Thresh, Scan, Hold, Decay, Bell Sense, Crosstalk, and the Velocity Curves.
  4. Use the Preset Manager for quick setup — eDRUMin ships factory presets for many commercially available pads.

Tips

  1. Audiofront developed against a Lemon 18" Ride: it is in the manual's list of gear used during development (p.6), and one of the two cymbal positional-sensing algorithms was "designed to support the Lemon 18” Ride" (p.20).
  2. Bell Sense mode can detect bell hits from a single TRS cable on supported pads — leave THRESH at 75.
  3. The eDRUMin works with pads from any manufacturer.
  4. If the edge and bell sounds come out swapped, the two cables are reversed — swap them at the cymbal ends.
13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
