Use as 2-zone ride

Yes — the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works on the Alesis DM10 as a 2-zone ride: bow + edge.

Choose your ride zones

Plug: Ride 1

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 1 (bow/edge) → the 8 RIDE1 input on the rear panel

Plug the Lemon ride's Ride 1 cable into the 8 RIDE1 input for bow + edge — no cymbal modification.

  1. Connect the ride's Ride 1 output (bow/edge) to the input labelled 8 RIDE1 on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press EXT TRIG to enter the Ext. Trig Menu, then press NOTE CHASE and strike the ride so RideBow or RideBell is selected.
  2. Press MODE (F4) and set it to "2 Zones" (p.26).
  3. Press INP (F1) and set Sensitvty (00-99) on that page so your hardest bow strike drives the level meter close to maximum without clipping.
  4. Set the InputType to SWITCH. The Lemon ride's edge and bell present switch-type outputs, and the manual (p.24) reserves SWITCH for exactly that class — a rim/edge switch or a footswitch.
  5. Press TRIG (F2) and set Threshold (00-99) on that page until bow and edge strikes register consistently.
  6. Assign the sounds per zone: DRUM KIT → EDIT INST → INST (F1), press NOTE CHASE and strike the zone, then set its Category and Instrument. In 2 Zones mode the module names the second zone RideBell — the label is cosmetic, so assign whatever ride-edge or crash sound you want to hear there.
  7. Press STORE, then YES (F1), to keep the settings — Ext. Trig changes return to their defaults when you power the module off.

Tips

  1. This is the out-of-the-box setup — no cymbal modification.

Plug: Ride 2

Wiring: 1× TRS: Ride 2 (bow/bell, after the rewire) → the 8 RIDE1 input on the rear panel

After the one-time, reversible jumper move inside the cymbal (~10 min), the Ride 2 cable carries bow + bell.

Cable routing

  1. Rewire the cymbal — move the internal red/black jumper from the Ride 1 input to the Ride 2 input.
  2. Connect a single 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal's Ride 2 output to this module's 8 RIDE1 input.

Tips

  1. The ride's MIDI notes are fixed on the DM10 and cannot be reassigned — this affects what a connected computer receives, not what the module itself plays.
