15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis DM7X

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Alesis DM7X.

Setup — 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis DM7X

Use as 1-zone crash

Yes — the 15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works on the Alesis DM7X as a 1-zone crash: bow only.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → available cymbal connector on the cable snake

The DM7X crash input is single-zone (bow only) — the MIDI chart maps a single note per crash with no separate edge note. A 2-zone cymbal triggers the bow zone; edge strikes won't sound separately.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to an available cymbal connector on the cable snake.

Module settings

  1. Hit the cymbal pad, or press its Pad Select button, so the module selects that input.
  2. Press Utility, then press Page/Select until SEN (Pad sensitivity) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
  3. Press Page/Select until THR (Pad threshold) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
  4. Press Save to keep the settings — otherwise they return to defaults when you power the module off.

Tips

  1. The crash input reads the bow zone only — edge strikes won't produce a separate sound.
15" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
