T550 8" High Tom on Simmons SD2000

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 8" High Tom when used with the Simmons SD2000.

Setup — T550 8" High Tom on Simmons SD2000

Works

Yes — the T550 8" High Tom works as a full tom on the Simmons SD2000: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → the TOM1/TOM2/TOM3 leads of the multi-pin cable harness (a fourth tom uses the side-panel Tom 4 jack)

The tom inputs support dual-zone (head + rim) triggering via the center piezo and the rim piezo.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 lead of the multi-pin cable harness.
  2. A fourth tom uses the Tom 4 TRS jack on the module's side panel — the manual documents it as taking a dual-zone drum or cymbal.

Module settings

  1. Press [Utility], then the Function soft-key under "Trigger" on the Main Utility screen.
  2. Select the Tom input (Follow Trigger — strike it — or Current Trigger).
  3. Adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, Crosstalk, Splash Sensitivity.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T550 8" High Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
