T550 8" High Tom on Roland TD-07

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 8" High Tom when used with the Roland TD-07.

Setup — T550 8" High Tom on Roland TD-07

Use as 1-zone tom

Yes — the T550 8" High Tom works on the Roland TD-07 as a 1-zone tom: head only.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → TOM1, TOM2, TOM3 connectors on the DB-25 cable snake

The Roland TD-07 tom inputs are single-zone — only the head piezo is read. Rim hits on a dual-zone tom pad will not produce a separate sound.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 connector on the DB-25 cable snake.
  2. Additional tom inputs may be available as direct jacks on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press [SETUP], select "PAD" with the cursor buttons, and press [ENTER].
  2. Strike a tom to select its input on the "PAD" screen.
  3. Select "Type" with the cursor buttons and use the dial to set it to PD85 or PD105 to match your tom.
  4. Fine-tune "Sens" (1-32) and "Threshold" (0-31) so soft and hard hits register cleanly.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim triggers from the rim switch.
  2. Both zones respond independently on the TRS connection (tip = head, ring = rim).
T550 8" High Tom also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
