T550 8" High Tom on Alesis Strata Prime

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 8" High Tom when used with the Alesis Strata Prime.

Setup — T550 8" High Tom on Alesis Strata Prime

Works

Yes — the T550 8" High Tom works as a full tom on the Alesis Strata Prime: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → TOM 1–TOM 4 trigger inputs (1/4" TRS jacks)

Each Tom trigger slot is dual-zone — Trigger Zone 1 reads Head and Trigger Zone 2 reads Rimshot via the center piezo and the rim piezo.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to a TOM 1, TOM 2, TOM 3, or TOM 4 trigger input on the rear panel (User Guide p.7).

Module settings

  1. Press the Kit button and tap Trigger to open Trigger mode; tap Hit Select and strike a tom to select its T1-T4 (Tom) input.
  2. Load a matching Trigger Preset, or in Tweaks set that Tom's Head Sensitivity (1.0-32.0) and Rim Sensitivity (1.0-32.0) so head and rim both respond.
  3. In Tweaks, set Head Threshold (1-127) and Rim Threshold (1-127) to taste.
  4. In Advanced, if the mesh head is tuned low and rim hits get weak, adjust Zone Balance (-64 to 63) toward the rim.
  5. If a head hit falsely triggers the rim, raise XTalk Decay (0-127) on that Tom input (Advanced).

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo on the ring — both ride the one TRS cable (tip = head, ring = rim).
  2. If you tune the mesh head very low and rim hits get weak, adjust Zone Balance toward the rim.
  3. If a head hit falsely triggers the rim, raise XTalk Decay on that Tom input.
T550 8" High Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
