T550 10" Low Tom on Simmons SD1200

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Simmons SD1200.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Simmons SD1200

Works

Yes — the T550 10" Low Tom works as a full tom on the Simmons SD1200: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: The TOM1/TOM2/TOM3 leads of the multi-pin cable harness → one per tom pad (a fourth tom: 1× TRS → the side-panel Tom 4 jack)

The tom inputs are dual-zone (head + rim): the module's note chart gives each tom a head note and a rim note.

Cable routing

  1. Plug the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 lead of the multi-pin cable harness into each tom pad.
  2. A fourth tom connects with a 1/4" TRS cable to the Tom 4 stereo 1/4" input on the module's right side panel.

Module settings

  1. Go to Utility > Trigger and select the Tom pad, then adjust Sensitivity, Threshold, Curve, Retrigger, and Crosstalk.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo mounted under the head.
  2. On an input that reads head and rim, if the wrong zone plays, tune the module's head/rim settings for this pad's size; values set for a different-size pad may not carry over.
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 76 other drum modules — see setup
