T550 10" Low Tom on Alesis Strata Core

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Alesis Strata Core.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Alesis Strata Core

Works

Yes — the T550 10" Low Tom works as a full tom on the Alesis Strata Core: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → T1/T2/T3 on the cable snake, or T4 on the Tom 4 rear-panel jack

Each Tom trigger slot is dual-zone (head + rim) with independent Head Sensitivity, Rim Sensitivity, Head Threshold, and Rim Threshold. T1–T3 land on the cable snake; T4 is one of the two dedicated 1/4" TRS jacks Alesis puts on the rear panel — "Tom 4 and Cymbal 3 Trigger Inputs (1/4" TRS)" (User Guide p.10).

Cable routing

  1. Connect each tom pad's 1/4" TRS lead to its T1, T2, or T3 trigger on the cable snake.
  2. For a fourth tom, connect to the Tom 4 (T4) trigger input on the rear panel — a dedicated 1/4" TRS jack (User Guide p.10).

Module settings

  1. Press the Kit button, then tap Trigger to open Trigger Mode.
  2. Tap Hit Select and strike the tom to select its slot (T1–T4), or tap the letters in the meter row.
  3. Load a dual-zone drum preset, then open Tweaks to set Head Sensitivity, Rim Sensitivity, Head Threshold, and Rim Threshold.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo; rimshot and rim-only come from the rim sensor on the TRS ring.
  2. If a low-tuned mesh head favors the wrong zone, open Advanced and adjust Zone Balance (-64 to 63).
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
