T550 10" Low Tom on Alesis DM7X

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Alesis DM7X.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Alesis DM7X

Works

Yes — the T550 10" Low Tom works as a full tom on the Alesis DM7X: head + rim.

Head Rim

Wiring: Tom1, Tom2, Tom3 connectors on the cable snake → one per tom pad

The tom connectors on the cable snake support dual-zone (head + rim) triggering via the center piezo and the rim piezo.

Cable routing

  1. Plug the Tom1, Tom2, or Tom3 connector on the cable snake into each tom pad.

Module settings

  1. Hit the tom pad, or press its Pad Select button, so the module selects that input.
  2. Press Utility, then press Page/Select until SEN (Pad sensitivity) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
  3. Press Page/Select until THR (Pad threshold) appears, and set it with the < and > buttons.
  4. Press Page/Select until R-S (Pad rim sensitivity) appears, and set the rim response with the < and > buttons.
  5. Press Save to keep the settings — otherwise they return to defaults when you power the module off.

Tips

  1. Head triggers from the center piezo, rim from a second piezo mounted under the head.
  2. On an input that reads head and rim, if the wrong zone plays, tune the module's head/rim settings for this pad's size; values set for a different-size pad may not carry over.
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 76 other drum modules — see setup
