T550 10" Low Tom on Donner DED-400

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T550 10" Low Tom when used with the Donner DED-400.

Setup — T550 10" Low Tom on Donner DED-400

Use as 1-zone tom

Yes — the T550 10" Low Tom works on the Donner DED-400 as a 1-zone tom: head only.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → TOM1/TOM2/TOM3 leads on the signal-connection harness (TOM4 is a discrete expansion jack)

The DED-400 tom inputs are single-zone. Only the head zone will trigger; rim hits will not produce a separate sound.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 lead on the module's signal-connection harness (the harness plugs into the module's TRIGGER INPUT port via its multi-pin parallel-port connector).
  2. A fourth tom uses the discrete TOM4 1/4" jack on the module's rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the MENU button, use +/- to select 2-PAD SET, and press OK to enter the pad parameter interface.
  2. Tap the tom pad to select it, then press + / - to choose a parameter and turn the encoder to set the value (press OK to confirm).
  3. Set Pad Sen (drum surface sensitivity, 1-6, smaller = more sensitive), Threshold (trigger threshold, 1-32), Xtalk (crosstalk threshold, 1-32), MaskS Time (masking time, 1-32), Curve (LINEAR/LOG/LOUD), and Volume (0-127).
  4. Press SAVE to store the settings.

Tips

  1. Only the head (center piezo) triggers — the rim switch on the pad is ignored by this module.
  2. A TS cable also works since only the tip signal is read.
T550 10" Low Tom also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
