13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland SPD-SX

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland SPD-SX.

Setup — 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland SPD-SX

Works

The 13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride is fully supported on your Roland SPD-SX.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → a TRIG IN jack (1/2 or 3/4) set to INPUT MODE HEAD&RIM — bow + edge

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow and edge read independently over one TRS cable when the jack is set to HEAD&RIM, and choke works by grabbing the edge. The SPD-SX supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals (e.g. CY-8, CY-12C, CY-14C). Each 2-zone cymbal occupies one of the two TRIG IN jacks.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon cymbal to a free TRIG IN jack (1/2 or 3/4).

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU] > SETUP > TRIG IN and select the cymbal's trigger input.
  2. Set INPUT MODE to HEAD&RIM and TRIG TYPE to a CY-series profile such as CY-14C or CY-8.
  3. Assign bow and edge waves to the trigger's head and rim in the KIT PAD screen.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge respond independently; choke by grabbing the edge.
  2. With only two jacks, a second 2-zone pad uses the remaining jack — plan jack assignments before patching.
13" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 70 other drum modules — see setup
