20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Core
Setup — 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Core
WorksYes — the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 2-zone crash on the Alesis Strata Core: bow + edge.
Bow
Edge
Wiring: 1× TRS → C1/C2 on the cable snake, or C3 on the Cymbal 3 rear-panel jack
Each Cymbal slot reads bow + edge with choke support, tuned with Bow Sensitivity, Edge Sensitivity, and Threshold. C1–C2 land on the cable snake; C3 is one of the two dedicated 1/4" TRS jacks Alesis puts on the rear panel — "Tom 4 and Cymbal 3 Trigger Inputs (1/4" TRS)" (User Guide p.10).
Cable routing
- Connect the cymbal's 1/4" TRS lead to its C1 or C2 trigger on the cable snake.
- For a third crash, connect to the Cymbal 3 (C3) trigger input on the rear panel — a dedicated 1/4" TRS jack (User Guide p.10).
Module settings
- Press the Kit button, then tap Trigger to open Trigger Mode.
- Tap Hit Select and strike the cymbal to select its slot (C1–C3).
- Load a crash preset, then open Tweaks to set Bow Sensitivity, Edge Sensitivity, and Threshold.
Tips
- Bow plays from the main surface; edge triggers from the edge sensor, and grabbing the edge chokes the cymbal.
- If chokes are too easy or too slow, open Advanced and adjust Choke Time (1–200 ms).
- If a third-party cymbal swaps bell and edge, toggle Invert Bell & Edge in Advanced.
20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
