18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Core

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Alesis Strata Core.

Setup — 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Alesis Strata Core

Works

The 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride is fully supported on your Alesis Strata Core.

Bell Bow Edge

Wiring: 2× TRS → R (Ride) on the trigger snake + a free Cymbal input — bow/edge + bell

The Strata Core has a dedicated native 3-zone Ride slot — bow, bell, and edge each trigger independently, with choke on the edge. The Lemon 3-zone ride is dual-output (two signal lines), so it lands on the R (Ride) input for bow/edge plus one free Cymbal input for the bell.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the ride's first signal output (bow/edge) to the R (Ride) trigger on the snake.
  2. Connect a second 1/4" TRS cable from the ride's second signal output (bell) to a free Cymbal input — C1/C2 on the snake, or the Cymbal 3 (C3) direct jack on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the Kit button, then tap Trigger to open Trigger Mode.
  2. Tap Hit Select and strike the ride bow to select the R slot, then load a 3-zone ride preset and open Tweaks to set Bow Sensitivity, Edge Sensitivity, and Threshold.
  3. Use Hit Select to select the Cymbal input carrying the bell, assign a ride-bell instrument, and tune its Sensitivity and Threshold independently.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge play through the R input; the bell plays through the Cymbal input — grabbing the edge chokes the ride.
  2. If bell and edge feel reversed on either input, toggle Invert Bell & Edge in Advanced.
  3. If late cymbal swing causes false triggers, raise Edge Decay Boost (0–100) in Advanced.
  4. If the ride and bell inputs interfere, run Learn XTalk on the input causing the crosstalk.
18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 70 other drum modules — see setup
