20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland SPD-SX PRO

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride when used with the Roland SPD-SX PRO.

Setup — 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland SPD-SX PRO

Works

The 20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride is fully supported on your Roland SPD-SX PRO.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → a TRIGGER IN jack set to HEAD&RIM — bow + edge

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) read independently over one TRS cable when the jack is set to HEAD&RIM, and choke works by grabbing the edge. The SPD-SX PRO supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals. Each 2-zone cymbal occupies one of the four jacks.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon cymbal to a free TRIGGER IN jack (1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8).

Module settings

  1. Press [MENU] > SYSTEM > PAD/TRIG IN > [F1] (PARAM) and select the cymbal's trigger input.
  2. Set Input Mode to HEAD&RIM and Trig Type to a CY-series profile such as CY-13R or CY-14C.
  3. Assign bow and edge waves to the trigger's head and rim in KIT EDIT.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge respond independently; choke by grabbing the edge.
  2. Connect a second crash to another free jack — up to four 2-zone pads fit across the four jacks.
20" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride also fits 70 other drum modules — see setup
