Yes — the 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-17: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → the “CR1” lead on the dedicated connection cable, or the CRASH 2 / AUX jack

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-17 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the lead labeled “CR1” on the dedicated connection cable.
A second cymbal goes to one of the two TRIGGER IN (AUX, CRASH 2) jacks (p. 3) — these are fed by the separate included trigger cable, not by the connection cable. On a TD-17KVX the CRASH 2 jack already carries the kit's own second crash.

Module settings

Press [SETUP], turn the dial to select "Pad Settings", then press [ENTER].
Press [F1] (TYPE), then strike the cymbal to select its input.
Turn the dial to set Pad Type to CY12C or CY14C.
Press [F2] (BASIC), select "Sensitivity", and turn the dial to adjust it.

Tips

Bow and edge zones respond independently.
Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
CRASH2 and AUX are direct jacks on the rear panel, not part of the cable snake.
