11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-50

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash when used with the Roland TD-50.

Setup — 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-50

Works

Yes — the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-50: bow + edge.

Bow Edge

Wiring: 1× TRS → CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel

Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-50 supports Roland CY-series 2-zone cymbals.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CRASH1 or CRASH2 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [TRIGGER] button.
  2. Press the PAGE [UP] button to access page 1 (TRIG BASIC).
  3. Press the [F1] (BANK) button to open the TRIGGER BANK screen.
  4. Select the CRASH1 or CRASH2 pad (C1, C2) (strike it or use the cursor buttons).
  5. Use the [-] [+] buttons or the dial to set the Trig Type to the model that most closely matches your connected pad (the full trigger-type list is in the module's Data List).
  6. For finer control, press [F3] (SENS) and adjust Sensitivity (1.0-32.0) on the TRIGGER SENS screen.

Tips

  1. Bow and edge zones respond independently.
  2. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
  3. The DIGITAL TRIGGER IN jacks are for Roland digital pads (CY-18DR) only.
11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
