11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-4
Setup — 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash on Roland TD-4
WorksYes — the 11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland TD-4: bow + edge.
Bow
Edge
Wiring: 1× TRS → CR1 connector on the trigger input cable (CR2 also available for a second 2-zone crash, unless used as RIDE BELL)
Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (tip) and edge (ring) respond independently via the single TRS connection. Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge. The TD-4 has two 2-zone crash inputs (CR1 and CR2). If you are running a 3-zone ride, the CR2 cable is repurposed as RIDE BELL and only CR1 remains available for a crash.
Cable routing
- Connect a ¼″ TRS cable from the cymbal to the CR1 connector on the trigger input cable.
- For a second crash, connect to the CR2 connector — but only if CR2 is not being used as RIDE BELL (see 3-zone ride below).
Module settings
- Press [MENU], choose "8 PAD SETTINGS" with the SEL buttons, and press [OK].
- Strike the cymbal to select the CR1 (or CR2) input.
- Use the SEL buttons to select "Pad Type", then set it with the [-/+] dial to CY-5, CY-8, or CY-14C to match your cymbal.
- For a second crash on CR2, confirm "Crash 2 Usage" is set to CRASH 2 (not RIDE BELL).
Tips
- Bow and edge zones respond independently.
- Choke works by grabbing the cymbal edge.
- If you want full 3-zone ride and a second crash, you'll have to choose one — the CR2 cable can only do one job at a time.
11" Dual-Zone Splash/Crash also fits 73 other drum modules — see setup
