15" Dual-Zone China on Roland Octapad SPD-30
Setup — 15" Dual-Zone China on Roland Octapad SPD-30
WorksYes — the 15" Dual-Zone China works as a full 2-zone crash on the Roland Octapad SPD-30: bow + edge.
Bow
Edge
Wiring: 1× TRS → an EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack with a CY Pad Type — bow + edge
Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (Inst Head) and edge (Inst Rim) read independently over one TRS cable. The SPD-30 supports Roland CY-series cymbals (CY-5, CY-8, CY-14C, CY-12R/C, CY-15R). Each 2-zone cymbal occupies one of the four EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jacks.
Cable routing
- Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon cymbal to a free EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack (1/KICK, 2/SNARE, 3/HI-HAT or 4/RIDE).
Module settings
- Press [MENU] > PAD > EXTERNAL to open the "PAD SETTING-EXTERNAL" screen.
- Hit the cymbal to select its input.
- Turn [Knob 1] (SEL) to select "Pad Type", then turn [Knob 3] (–/+) to set a CY profile such as CY-14C or CY-12R/C.
- In [MENU] > INST, assign bow and edge waves to Inst Head and Inst Rim for that input.
Tips
- Bow and edge respond independently.
- Connect a second crash to another free jack — the four inputs are shared across every external pad.
