15" Dual-Zone China on Yamaha DTX400K

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the 15" Dual-Zone China when used with the Yamaha DTX400K.

Setup — 15" Dual-Zone China on Yamaha DTX400K

Use as 1-zone crash

The 15" Dual-Zone China works on your Yamaha DTX400K with reduced zones.

Bow Edge

Wiring: N/A

All cymbal pads are single-zone. No multi-zone cymbal support.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the cymbal pad to the CRASH connector on the DB-25 cable snake.

Module settings

  1. The DTX400 has very limited trigger settings — most crash parameters are fixed and not exposed in a sensitivity menu.
  2. The module reads the Crash input as a single-zone, bow-only pad: only bow strikes register, so edge and choke articulations will not sound.
  3. Load a crash patch whose bow sample stands on its own.

Tips

  1. The DTX400K connects all pads via a single multi-pin cable snake. There are no individual jacks.
  2. All cymbal pads in the DTX400K system are single-zone.
  3. The module does not support dual-zone cymbal triggering.
15" Dual-Zone China also fits 64 other drum modules — see setup
