18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland Octapad SPD-30
Setup — 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride on Roland Octapad SPD-30
WorksThe 18" Triple-Zone Crash/Ride is fully supported on your Roland Octapad SPD-30.
Bow
Edge
Wiring: 1× TRS → an EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack with a CY Pad Type — bow + edge
Dual-zone crash triggering: bow (Inst Head) and edge (Inst Rim) read independently over one TRS cable, and choke works by grabbing the edge. The SPD-30 supports Roland CY-series cymbals (CY-5, CY-8, CY-14C, CY-12R/C, CY-15R). Each 2-zone cymbal occupies one of the four EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jacks.
Cable routing
- Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from the Lemon cymbal to a free EXTERNAL TRIGGER INPUT jack (1/KICK, 2/SNARE, 3/HI-HAT or 4/RIDE).
Module settings
- Press [MENU] > PAD > EXTERNAL, hit the cymbal to select its input, and set Pad Type to a CY profile such as CY-14C or CY-12R/C.
- Assign bow and edge waves to Inst Head and Inst Rim for that input in INST.
Tips
- Bow and edge respond independently; choke by grabbing the edge.
- Connect a second crash to another free jack — the four inputs are shared across every external pad.
