T950 13"x13" Floor Tom on Yamaha DTX700

Wiring, module settings, and tips for the T950 13"x13" Floor Tom when used with the Yamaha DTX700.

Setup — T950 13"x13" Floor Tom on Yamaha DTX700

Use as 1-zone tom

Yes — the T950 13"x13" Floor Tom works on the Yamaha DTX700 as a 1-zone tom: head only.

Head Rim

Wiring: 1× TRS per tom → TOM1, TOM2, TOM3 inputs (1/4" TRS jacks)

The TOM1-TOM3 jacks take stereo-type two- or three-zone pads (Owner's Manual p.12), and the module's tom pad types are Yamaha's own XP and TP models (Reference Manual p.46). A Lemon tom's rim is a second piezo, which these inputs do not register as a rim hit, so they read the head only.

Cable routing

  1. Connect a 1/4" TRS cable from each tom pad to the TOM1, TOM2, or TOM3 input on the rear panel.

Module settings

  1. Press the [MENU] button, turn the dial to select Trigger, then press the dial.
  2. Turn the dial to select Pad, then press the dial; strike the tom so its input is selected.
  3. Move the cursor to the PadType row and set the entry that matches your tom — the Reference Manual prints XP120/100 Tom, XP80 Tom, XP70 Tom, TP120/100 Tom and TP65S Tom (p.46).
  4. Set Gain (1–64) on the same Pad Type page for even response across the tom (p.46).
  5. Raise MinLevel (Minimum Level, 0%–99%) to reject false hits, and adjust RejectTime (4ms–500ms) to stop double triggers.
  6. Press the [STORE] button to store the setting — if a confirmation message appears, press the dial to proceed.

Tips

  1. Only the head (center piezo) triggers — this module doesn't read the pad's rim piezo.
T950 13"x13" Floor Tom also fits 74 other drum modules — see setup
